Sharp UX 2200CM

As a printer, the UX-2200CM is a high-resolution, 600dpi inkjet color printer, and it can print at about 1.5ppm - typical for low-cost inkjet printers. Its clarity is excellent. The UX-2200CM is a single-cartridge inkjet, meaning that cartridges must be switched for color or black-and-white documents. One nice feature of the unit is its IrDA standard infrared port, which lets most notebooks connect to the UX-2200CM and print wirelessly - another handy use for a multipurpose accessory.
 
Facsimile transmission remains the strongest function of all Sharp units, and the UX-2200CM is no exception. It has a 20-page document feeder and 42-page memory, and it can perform advanced fax functions such as broadcasting to multiple numbers and transmitting stored documents on demand. A fax-to-E-mail feature requires a separate Internet E-mail account and is of minimal value.
 
The UX-2200CM offers fairly basic, but competent, functionality as a scanner or photocopier. Copying speed is relatively slow, but the scanning system has 400dpi resolution, which makes it suitable for most optical character recognition tasks. The UX-2200CM takes up a small amount of desktop space and has a telephone handset.
